Course Descriptions

The Learning Institute™ recognizes that there is a broad need for Alzheimer’s disease education beyond the healthcare community and families directly affected by the disease. With a rapidly aging population and the alarming predictions of the prevalence of this troubling disease if a cure is not found, Alzheimer’s is a fast beaming societal issue.

The Learning Institute™ offers Alzheimer’s disease educational programs for the general public. Specific courses are also offered to businesses, organizations, and professionals - such as banks, retail establishments, law enforcement, emergency workers, and clergy - who deal with the public and who need information on how to interact with people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.

Business and Community Education Workshops
These interactive workshops are designed for businesses and community organizations. The workshops enable employees to recognize the signs of Alzheimer’s disease and teach them to respond in an appropriate and ethical manner to the often-challenging behaviors of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease. Fee.

Volunteer Training
Programs designed for training volunteers working in various settings such as nursing homes, churches, hospitals, and hospices. Volunteer training programs are tailored for the specific needs of the organization after an initial assessment. Fee.

Maintain Your Brain™: how to live a brain healthy lifestyle workshop
Current research findings indicate that a healthy lifestyle contributes to the reduction of the risk of Alzheimer’s and other dementia. The workshop will introduce attendees to scientifically rooted advice on brain health based on strong lifestyle choices. The one-hour interactive workshop features nutritional and lifestyle advice, strategies to keep memory sharp, interactive exercises and activities, and materials to take home for further reading. Fee.
